It is immediately evident what a high quality and precision-engineered lens this is as soon as you get it out of the box (and the excellent protective zippable carry case). It is a weighty lens, though this is reassuring as it feels (and looks) robust and the housing and lenses are high standard materials (including snug fitting lens caps for either side when not in use). It should be noted that this lens requires a compatible backplane or smallrig with a 17mm thread to mount to your phone. This may be problematic for older phones (such as my iPhone11) as I couldn’t find something suitable (though, on checking, later models are better provided for). I will keep looking, but for now (and for reviewing purposes) I tested the lens without a rig (which is far from satisfactory) but nevertheless it produced an excellent result under the circumstances, and the magnified image was clear and sharp (see photos). I’m looking forward to sourcing a suitable mount to see what this lens really can do.In short, this is a very high quality and effective lens at a very reasonable price. Just factor in the attachment you’ll need to accompany it (which are generally inexpensive).Recommended.
