I'm not much of a video shooter, and I didn't want to spend a fortune on a fluid head. That's when I stumbled upon this NEEWER option, a brand I'm quite familiar with, so I thought, why not give it a try? And I have to say, I'm genuinely impressed.Let's start with the build quality - it's exceptional. Compact and lightweight, this thing is entirely crafted from aluminum alloy, giving it a robust feel that's ready to handle some serious action. What's really handy is its compatibility with the Arca Swiss system, making equipment swaps a breeze. The quick release plate with a 1/4" screw secures the camera snugly, and they've even included a hex key that magnetically lives within the fluid head, which is a real game-changer for fast and hassle-free mounting. No more frantic tool searches.The head itself allows for smooth rotation at a full 360° or tilting from -55° to 90°, offering the freedom to capture any camera angle you desire. The locking knob makes it a piece of cake to secure the head at your preferred angle, and the added bubble level help you ensure your shots stay perfectly straight when needed. You can also install the handle on either side of the fluid head using the hand-tighten locking knob, which is fantastic for accommodating both left and right-handed users. Additionally, there's a 1/4" thread on the side for accessory mounting, adding to its versatility.In my tests, this head managed a mirrorless camera with a hefty 100-400mm telephoto lens on it without a hitch. However, one quibble I have is that the knob for the mounting plates is in a slightly awkward position, which can make it a bit tricky to reach at times, especially if the handle knob is sitting vertically.All in all, I think this is a fantastic addition to any photographer's gear. It's well-constructed, provides great flexibility, and the quick release feature is a real time-saver. I believe this fluid head offers excellent value for the price.
