Awesome filter. Leave it on most of time especially for personal stuff. The haze effect is most noticeable at night when all the streetlights have fog around them. Day shots usually just have a general lower contrast and slightly raised blacks.

We used this for a commercial shoot with our RED Gemini. I don’t understand how some companies are charging hundreds for a “dirty” piece of glass. This was perfect for us and the look was perfect.

This filter is of fantastic quality. The glass is thick, and it comes in a very nice padded protective sleeve.The dreamy effect is definitely there (but you need to know how to use it). I suggest watching a video or two about black diffusion filters if unfamiliar.

I think I’m the only reviewer of this filter that wasn’t sponsored. ;)I found this 4x6.5 filter quite decent but at 1/8 it’s so subtle that I can’t really compare it to my Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4 circular filter (which is a far stronger effect) to assess if a filter 1/4 of the price is a good buy. I’m tempted to try the 1/4 just to see. It does have a very slight softening of the digital sensor and a slight halo/glow. Test camera was a matte box on a R6 mk ii shooting at 6K RAW.

In a nutshell:Things I liked:+ Subtle but very noticeable effect. I found it to be more significantly noticeable in video shooting - the softening seems to be more appreciable in video with very little post. Gives a film-like effect with bigger bloom. The halation is most noticeable when shooting light sources.+ Decent price for a quality filter.Things I didn't like:- Nothing in particular.Do I recommend it?Yes absolutely. It's subtle but effective.

I think sometimes my journey in photography makes a turn by one tweak or one effect and this filter has really helped me do things i wanted to do but never had the tools to do so. (i hope that reads like i want it to without sounding pretentious)Since using neewer products i have rarely had anything bad to say about them and long may that continue as this is again a great addition to my collection.
