The filter arrived nicely packaged in an outer box with a plastic film seal. Inside the box is a lens cloth, the filter contained in a nice storage case and an info sheet with the contact details of the maker.The storage case is robust and a good design with a cut-out either side of where the filter sits to enable its removal from the case without getting finger marks on the filter itself.The thread for attaching it to a lens runs very smoothly with no jamming so I had no problem screwing it onto a lens with the correct size filter thread. The front ring which turns to vary the amount of light reduction operates nicely without making the whole assembly unscrew from the lens. There is a dotted scale on the outer circumference of the filter to indicate the setting. It works by having two polarised layers of glass, with one that is rotated to alter the angle of polarisation to enable a reduction of light which passes through depending on the setting. More convenient than having to keep swapping filters.The one I ordered is ND2-ND32 77mm thread to fit my lenses. It is well made from quality materials and does offer a good range of creative control for photographing a range of subjects. In normal daylight I found the darkest setting and small aperture was needed to slow the camera shutter sufficiently to get the effect I wanted with water. It worked as expected. The images taken using this filter came out well with just a small amount of colour shift at the outer edges of the pictures on the darkest setting.Overall this Neewer Variable ND filer is a very welcome addition to my photography kit and I look forward to getting out with my camera and experimenting with all kinds of subjects. I am delighted with it.
