The PL81 Pro is essentially a professional streaming LED light that can be attached to either a monitor or the included stand or can be connected to a tripod using the cold shoe connectors. It can be used for Zoom calls or video streaming and is ideal for content creators. As you’d expect from Neewer, the build is solid, the LED light is compact and sturdy, and the attached silicone diffuser does a great job at blending the light and forming a strong glow, rather than a harsh direct light.The lamp itself has 2 knobs at the top, one to control the light temperature and the other for dimming levels. For its size, the highest setting offers a superb bright light. At the back, there is a USB-C port, the power switch and the brightness LED indicators, and there are 4 cold shoe mounts on each side, making it compatible with any setup. Also included in the box, is the stand which offers a swivel hook for mounting the light, an extendable body turning it into a phone stand and a mounting bracket to attach it to a laptop or monitor. You also get a USB cable and a small drawstring carry pouch with a nice velvety texture.Unlike other compact mounting lights, the PL81 does not include a built-in battery but requires to be connected to a power source such as a laptop/desktop or a USB power adaptor, which may not appeal to everyone. However, if you're looking for a more mobile setup you can always connect it to a power bank, as I have done. Also, having previously used other camera lights, the silicone diffusion on the PL81 makes a huge difference when lighting a scene, offering a more professional look.Overall, the Neewer PL81 is a great little LED light, offers good brightness and temperature control and is extremely flexible in practical use. Definitely a recommended purchase.
