I don't consider myself a 'serious photographer'. I'm what is known as a 'content creator' --primarily a writer and started taking photos/videos to supplement that. I'm trying to learn all I can about the art of photography and (hopefully) I'll have time at some point to pursue it. For now at least, I'm more focused on taking images/videos of decent quality quickly and easily. That's what pays the bills.That's probably why I've always had a predisposition against square filters. I definitely understand their benefits--for one, they're more versatile as they can be used with multiple lenses unlike circular filters which are made for specific lens diameters. I've also read about their advantages during the photographic process--better to stack, easier to change, higher quality, etc. Given my primary need for photo equipment, the versatility argument is the most compelling IMO since it also means that you don't have to buy what is essentially the same filter multiple times for different lenses. If you have a matte box or filter frame, you can swap filters between any number of lens size/types.Generally speaking, I'm a big fan of NEEWER products. Not sure about their vibe among more experienced/specialized photographers, but for what I use them for they're excellent. They offer decent quality and functionality at a reasonable price point. That's what we've got here as well. I did some quick comparison shopping and it looks as if this filter is at the low to midrange of the market in terms of price. NEEWER has some higher price point products but my familiarity is with their value priced gear.I've got several of the circular NEEWER ND filters, and this one performed equally as well. That's what you get from NEEWER. I did find the square filters easier to use now than I did when I first tried them several years ago. Maybe the equipment has improved, maybe my skills have improved, or who knows what else. At this point, I still think the circular filters work better for my needs/workflow but at some point I'll reconsider adding square filters to my 'arsenal'. Given the nice balance between quality and price, NEEWER is probably where I'll start. Highly recommended!!
